Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris Weekend !

The Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris is the most spectacular race in the Jump calendar. It crowns the best horses and jockeys in a quite unique event.

The Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris, which lends its name to a major racing weekend at Auteuil, is open to the best Jump horses and Jump jockeys. Together they will cover 6000 metres, which is the longest chase run at Auteuil. Runners must clear 23 obstacles of varying difficulty : double barrier, Bull-Finch, Oxer, the water jump in front of the stands, and the Open Ditch. The “rail ditch and fence”, which is 4.10 metres wide and 1.60 metres high, is the most daunting, and demands a huge effort to clear it. It is from this point onwards that the pace of the race increases…

After such a remarkable effort, the winner is well-deserving of his prize. With prizemoney totalling 850 000 Euros, it is the richest race in the Jumps calendar in France. After taming this truly difficult course, the winner is generously acclaimed by a 30,000-strong crowd which annually attends the Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris.

In 2014, this exceptional race was won by Storm of Saintly and his young jockey Vincent Cheminaud, who re-emphasised his prodigious talent. Cheminaud also won the accolade of Cravache d’Or (Champion jockey) for the first time.

In 2015 a complete weekend of jumping will unfold around the Grand Steeple Chase for the first time.
The weekend’s programme will embrace 4 Group races and 3 listed races. By its positioning towards the end of the spring, the international aspect of the event is enhanced.

Entry from 8€, Free under 18s.
